This panel features artists Jackie Castillo, William Camargo, Arlene Mejorado, Arturo Soto, and Claudia Pretelin, curator of the exhibition PANORAMA: Photographs from the collection of Paula Ely and Cesar Rueda. The discussion explores how Los Angeles-based contemporary artists expand the history of art and photography beyond traditional concepts of territory and borderlands. Panelists will discuss how their practices engage with life and heritage, and how traditional Mexican photography and other international influences have shaped the works presented in this exhibition.
