Pablo Ortiz Monasterio, one of Mexico’s best-known and most influential photographers, will discuss the process of creating the series Desaparecen?, presented at SHOW LA as an exhibition and book. In this conversation, Ortiz Monasterio will explore the photographs reflecting the tragic story of the 43 students from Ayotzinapa, victims of forced disappearance. He will explain how, through image and text, this work creates a poetic rendition of the memories of political events, social upheaval, and the humanity that remains.
